Frequently asked questions
Will my PDF loose quality?
If you select "Print" as compression level images will be optimized only if they are over 300dpi. Other optimizations do not affect the quality of the document. If you choose "Screen" as compression level, images will be reduced to 72dpi. This is sufficient for viewing on a screen, but the quality is not suitable for print anymore.
How does the compression work?
The compression algorithm- removes unused or duplicated objects like fonts.
- It strips off regenerable objects like ASCII filters or image thumbnails.
- Uses the superior Flate Compression instead of the older LZW Compression.
- Additionally it strips the structure tree, web capture information and page piece data as those are not necessary to display the document.
